My name is Nilay Thomas. I am an MEd student with TESL specialty at U of C. This is my 12th course which means I am about to graduate. YAY! I am an ESL teacher at Bow Valley College. I have been with the college since 2004. I am originally from Istanbul, Turkey. I had been teaching in Istanbul for 13 years before I came to Canada. I taught at a private K12 school for 9 years as an EFL teacher and the department head. Then I moved onto teaching at a private university located in Istanbul as well. I taught English Foundations for 4 years and at the same time was the level coordinator there.
I got married and moved to Canada in 2003. I have a cat and I live in the NW Calgary.
I have family in Istanbul and the US. Teaching runs in my family. My mother, my aunt and my sister are all teachers. I love teaching and so far I have been satisfied with my courses at U of C.
I am very glad to have decided to take this course. It will meet everything I expected form it looking at the course outline.
I wish everyone a good 10 days and enjoy our leaning.
